Chiper won the first medal on the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating for Romania (bronze at 2005 Trophee
Bompard). He is married to his coach and choreographer Sandra Schär. They have one daughter, Flora, born in
May 2000. Chiper is the first Romanian to land a quadruple toeloop in competition. As his wife is originally from
Switzerland they decided to move to Switzerland in 2001.
