Lang began skating when she was eight years old after seeing Ice Capades. She danced as a member of the
Grand Rapids Michigan Ballet Company. Lang aspires to be a veterinarian. The athletes she admires most are
1998 Olympic Champion Tara Lipinski and Steve Yzerman of the Detroit Red Wings. Tchernyshev began skating at
age of six, but had to give up his single carreer when he was 18, because of an injury, that put an end to the
jumping. His grandfather was a four-time Soviet Figure Skating Champion in singles (1936-1939). Tchernyshev had
looked for a new partner and emigrated to the USA. Tchernyshev received his US citizenship in January 2001. The
couple was forced to miss the 2002 ISU Grand Prix Events due to injury (Lang).
