Gedevanishvili is the first skater from Georgia to medal at ISU Championships (bronze at 2010 European Championships) and to win a Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating event (in 2005). She left Moscow where she had trained for years in fall 2006 and relocated to the USA for training in December 2006. She went to train in Canada in 2011. She received the Order of Honor by Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili for her achievements as an athlete. Gedevanishvili's brother Dmitri (three years younger) is a competitive alpine skier. Coach Brian Orser is the 1984 and 1988 Olympic silver medalist.
