Gedevanishvili is the first skater from Georgia to medal at and to win a Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating event (in 2005). She left Moscow where she had trained for years in fall 2006, because her mother had visa problems and went back to Georgia. She relocated to the USA for training in December 2006. She received the Order of Honor by Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili for her achievements as an athlete. Gedevanishvili's brother Dmitri (three years younger) is a competitive alpine skier. Gedevanishvili switched coaches following the 2009 European Championships.
