Amodio was born in Brazil but was raised in France. He started skating at age four when former coach Bernard Glesser discovered him in a public skating session. Amodio had to stop skating for 18 months when he was 12 years old as he was diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter disease (knee pain and edema). Amodio starred in a French figure skating movie, "Programme Libre", that was released in 2012. Amodio announced that the European Championships 2016 will be his last competition.
