Ten is the first figure skater from Kazakhstan to take a medal at the Olympic Winter Games (bronze in 2014), at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships (silver in 2013) and he is the first to medal at an ISU competition (gold at 2008 ISU Junior Grand Prix in Gomel/BLR) . Ten is a descendant of famous Korean General Min Keung Ho. His family is part of the Korean minority in Kazakhstan. Ten switched coaches after the 2009/2010 season and has moved to the USA for training. Ten also works with two-time World Champion Stephane Lambiel.
