Nagasu is a bronze medalist in the Team Event at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. She started skating at age 5 because her parents took her ice skating on a rainy day when she couldn't play golf. Her parents are immigrants from Japan, and she speaks both English and Japanese. Nagasu has landed the triple Axel in competition. She changed coaches following the 2013/14 season.
