Castelli started skating at age 3 because her mother is a figure skating coach. Shnapir started to skate at age 6 because he "wanted to try something new". He was born in Russia and emigrated with his family to the USA when he was 16 months old. Castelli/Shnapir are practising the throw triple Axel.
