Nazarova/Nikitin are the second Ukrainian Ice Dance team to win a medal at the ISU World Junior Championships (bronze in 2015) and the first to medal in 19 years. Natalia Gudina/Vitali Kurkurdym had won bronze in 1996. The couple missed the 2016 European Championships as she recovered from injury. Coach Fabian Bourzat is the 2011 and 2012 European Champion (with Nathalie Pechalat), competing for France.
