Chock/Bates teamed up in spring 2011. They both were World Junior Champions with their previous partners: Chock in 2009 with Greg Zuerlein and Bates in 2008 with Emily Samuelson. Zuerlein retired from skating in spring 2011. Bates is a four-time Olympian (in 2010 with former partner Emily Samuelson and in 2014, 2018 & 2022 with Chock). The couple moved to Canada for training in 2018. She designs their costumes and they won the ISU Skating Award for Best Costume in 2023 and 2020. Coaches Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon are the 2006 and 2007 World silver medalists, representing Canada.
