Tsurskaya moved from Omsk to Moscow for training when she was 11 years old. She had to withdraw from the 2016 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships before the Short Program as she had sprained her ankle in practice. She also missed the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final in December 2016 recovering from knee surgery.
