Ilinykh/Katsalapov had skated together and trained under Zhulin while he was still working in the USA, but they split up in 2005. He then skated with Angelina Kabysheva. Ilinykh/Katsalapov reunited in spring 2008 in Moscow and right away placed 4th at Russian Junior Nationals. Coach Alexander Zhulin is the 1993 Ice Dance World Champion and a two-time Olympic medalist (with Maia Usova).
