Gubanova is the first Georgian skater to win the European Championships (2023) and the first female Georgian skater to win an ISU Grand Prix medal (bronze at John Wilson Trophy 2022). She switched coaches and moved to Moscow following the 2017/18 season but returned to St. Petersburg in summer 2019. She represented Russia until 2018.
